Yesterday's reading
It’s a nice change reading the Psalms. Today’s 3 Psalms are chock full of good ole ‘Maranatha’ songs. But the Psalm that spoke to me today (in that it describes me well right now) is Psalm 40:11-12. The prayer asks for God’s continued love, mercy, and protection, despite one being surrounded by troubles and overtaken and blinded by sin. The Psalm has given me the exact words I think I’ve been searching for in my mind.
From Acts 27, the main lesson for me was that a genuine Word from God is above the word of professional experts. A decision was made to take the advice of the captain and owner of the ship, rather than to heed the message God sent through his angel in a dream. As a result, the ship nearly capsized, and there was much regret - but God had mercy in the end.
