Exodus 7&8

Exodus 7&8

Exodus 7:1-6
7:1 God made Moses like 'God to Pharaoh and Aaron like his prophet.' Wow! God really exalts whom he will exalt! What qualification did Moses have really to be that favored? Amazing!

God was determined to make an example out of Pharaoh; 'He hardened Pharaoh's heart...' so that Egyptians would KNOW that He was the one true God.

Side note: Moses and Aaron were 80 and 83 respectively when this took place? Why did I think Moses was in his forties?

V. 16 - the Egyptian magicians were unable to reproduce any more of the plagues from this point on. What was it about the timing? This underscored for me how the enemy can perform signs and give 'gifts' too- we need to be discerning.

V. 19 - even the magicians had to acknowledge that this was 'the finger of God'.

V. 22 - this was where God began to show preferential treatment towards the Israelites. The entire land was afflicted before but with the flies He made that distinction. Think of how hard it is to stop a fly from getting anywhere! Wow!

All through out the chapter we see that Moses had to pray to God on Pharaoh's behalf to change the situation. May we take our roles as intercessors more seriously, Amen!
