Genesis 18&19

I was very struck by the similarities yet great differences between Abraham and Lots encounters with the angels in Genesis 18 & 19.

 First big difference- God himself visted with Abraham and not with Lot. There was clearly a relationship there. With Lot, the angels were there on assignment.

Abraham proactively interceded for the people of Sodom. Lot interceded on behalf of his 'guests' who I am not sure he knew were angels. The angels were actually the ones that asked Lot to bring his in laws and children in the house for safe keeping.

Both men opened their home to the angels and made them similar meals.

The angels modified their original instructions at Lot's request by  leaving the city of Zoar intact.

Lot's wife looking back- very chilling, especially for someone like me who is given to bouts of nostalgia. When God closes a door, do not seek to reopen it!
