Genesis 19-20; Matthew 18: 21-35
Matthew 18
Forgiveness.
No matter how deeply people hurt us (and human beings REALLY can and do hurt us), forgiving them is nothing compared to God’s extent of forgiveness toward us.
Our inability to forgive is tied to our lack of comprehension of exactly what God did when he offered us salvation and forgiveness of sins - a clean slate.
He continually offers this, as long as our repentance is genuine.
Open the eyes of my understanding, Lord, that I might better grasp the depth of your love and forgiveness. For when I do, forgiving others will not be a struggle - because I will realize that what I am required to give (or give up) is nothing compared to what I have freely received.
