Genesis 36-38; Matthew 10: 21-42

Gen 37

Dreams!
  1. Not everyone can handle your dream. It’s just the natural human inclination to be envious of what someone else has. So handle your dream with care. Use wisdom! How would sharing a dream about your older brothers’ subordination to you make them happy??
  2. As parents, we need to be in tune with God concerning his plans for our children. Even Jacob reprimanded Joseph for his dream. Some things in our children’s lives just might be if God. We need to keep praying and seeking on their behalves. Interesting how this is the same Jacob whom God spoke to many times. But in his period of mourning for Joseph, God kept quiet. He kept quiet for years. God’s silence often means he’s working behind the scenes. There’s no reason for us to lose hope or faith. He’s working out all things for our good, even when we don’t ‘feel’ him around.
  3. Side-bar: the deception of Jacob and his children after him. Exhausting!

Matt 10
  1. Very comforting reminder of God’s caring and attentive nature. A sparrow falling The the ground does not escape his notice! Even the very hairs of my head are all numbered! Thank you, Lord. You’re aware of all my needs and situations. I not alone.
  2. There’s a reward for kindness toward other believers. And kindness doesn’t have to cost much. It could be something as simple as providing a cup of cold water.
