Matt 6:19-24, Gen 20-22

*[[Gen 20:3]] NHEB* But God came to Abimelech in a dream of the night, and said to him, “Behold, you are a dead man, because of the woman whom you have taken. For she is a man’s wife.”

*[[Gen 20:18]] NHEB* For the LORD had closed up tight all the wombs of the house of Abimelech, because of Sarah, Abraham’s wife.

God and marriages!
When two people agree to marry. God recognizes that union. Even God addresses men and women as husbands and wives. Abimelech was tampering with what God had joined together and at a critical time as this...

*[[Gen 18:14]] BBE* Is there any wonder which the Lord is not able to do? At the time I said, in the spring, I will come back to you, and Sarah will have a child.

*[[Gen 21:1]] BBE* And the Lord came to Sarah as he had said and did to her as he had undertaken.

The time when Sarah was to conceive for Abraham was when she found herself in Abimelech's house!

No wonder God was passionate in His confrontation with Abimelech. All wombs have been shut for the sake of one family under God!

God, marriages and families!!!

Lord
Help me to see marriages the way you see them. Help me to help people to avoid taking wives without serious enquires like Abimelech, using wives or husbands to cover up as our security like Abraham.
Help me also to teach women like Sarah how to lovingly but surely stand up for the truth. Protect us all from the whims of other human beings that put us in such confusion!!!
Help us all.
