1 Samuel 25-26; Luke 12
What I’ve learned today:
The importance of being strategic, thoughtful, and appreciative –
things that Nabal unfortunately did not learn.
The importance of being approachable and wise – something Abigail had
learned.
The importance of not taking vengeance into our own hands.
David said: “Praise be
to the Lord, who has upheld my
cause against Nabal for treating me with contempt. He has kept his servant from
doing wrong and has brought Nabal’s wrongdoing down on his own head.”
So, God upholds our case. We don’t need to worry or expend energy figuring out
how to pay someone back in his/her own coin.
David’s heart! He had Saul
right in his hands and he still allowed himself to be convicted and do the
right thing. Even after Saul had given his wife to someone else, and tried to
murder him several times, he still allowed the Lord to be in charge of the situation
and of vengeance.
The importance of being
ready and staying ready. Stay in touch; stay in fellowship with the Lord. Do
that, and the time of His coming really doesn’t matter.
