Luke 22
Satan actually asked for permission to sift Peter like wheat - or, to separate him from God, as one version puts it. But Jesus said he’d prayed for him. He also said repeatedly that the disciples needed to pray in order not to fall into temptation. This means that when I’m faced with temptations - or before I am, actually - prayer is the solution.
I just saw something else: Jesus said that he’d prayed for Peter, and so, when he’d been through his period of testing, he should strengthen others. I found this so powerful! The fact that once Jesus prayed, it was settled. Yes, Peter would go through stuff, but it would all be ok in the end because Jesus had prayed for him. I felt so encouraged about my own prayers. I need to KNOW that prayer is the key! It works! Processes must take place, but prayer settles things. Amen.
