Genesis 18-19; Matthew 6:1-18

Gen 18
  1. Vs 1: God can appear at any time. Without ceremony. He can appear on a scorching hot day when you’re just lounging outside by your front door. As long as we’re maintaining fellowship with Him, we should expect Him to show up on any ‘ordinary’ day.
  2. Vs 14: ‘Is anything too hard for the Lord?’ NO, Lord!!!
  3. Vs 17: ‘Shall I His from Abraham what I’m about to do?’ I want this sort of relationship with the Lord - that kind of intimacy where He wants to ‘gist’ with me and tell me His secrets.
  4. God hears what we say. He heard what Sarah said in her thoughts (vs 12)! And He heard the outcry of the people against Sodom and Gomorrah. May my thoughts and words be pleasing to Him.
  5. Righteousness indeed exalts a nation. All God needed was 10 righteousness people in order to refrain from bringing destruction in the land. I shouldn’t think that being in right-standing with God is a waste of time.

Gen 19
Vs 3, 13: Insistence and persistence. Lot insisted that the angels spend the night at his place, and they were going blogged to comply even though they didn’t want to.

‘The outcry to the Lord against its people is so great that he has sent us to destroy it.’ I wonder how often my prayers are ‘outcries,’ and if this is what leads to answered prayer. I suppose this could be one of the ingredients ...

Matt 6:1-18
  1. I think I got the answer to my last question. Vs. 7-8 (The Message): ‘The world is full of so-called prayer warriors who are prayer-ignorant. They’re full of formulas and programs and advice, peddling techniques for getting what you want from God. Don’t fall for that nonsense. This is your Father you are dealing with, and he knows better than you what you need. With a God like this loving you, you can pray very simply.’
