Belated posts for Thur and Fri

Haven't had a chance to post my write-ups over the last two days. Now that my leave is over and I'm back at work, I tend to do my readings sort of late at night (around 9 pm). By the time I type up my thoughts on my phone, I'm too tired (or lazy) to log on to my laptop and post to the blog. So here are my thoughts so far. One more post pending. Will do that later today (hopefully!).

Exodus 27-28

I lost count of the number of times the word ‘skill/skilled’ appeared in these chapters. And verse 3 of chapter 28 indicates that God is the one who gives wisdom to those who posses a skill. From the reading, it’s clear that God really appreciates skilled workmanship. I pray that God would fill me with wisdom so that I might execute all my God-given skills with all anointing and in ways that would bring him glory. May my entire skill-set be infused by your wisdom, power, and anointing.

Matthew 21

‘If you have faith and do not doubt ...’ The more I read about faith this year, the more I wonder if I have enough of it. ‘If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.’ I believe, Lord! Help thou my unbelief! I’m not sure I fully get it, Lord. May the eyes of my heart be enlightened, that I might know you and your ways better. I do believe. I hope believing isn’t more complicated than that!

Exodus 29-30

Pleasing aromas. God wanted to derive pleasure from these aromas regularly, whether the scent was from a lamb or from incense. (Ex 30:7, Ex 29:41-42, etc). Reminds me that God looks forward to my worship. He wants it regularly. Reminds me of the life of Abraham who built an altar for pretty much everything the Lord did. I’m to create more time for that - worship. Doesn’t have to be ceremonious (although that’s nice, too). Just being conscious of the need to thank and worship God in my heart for the big and little things he does throughout my day.

Matthew 21

The parable of the two sons spoke to me the most. God is like any other parent. Obedience carries more weight than promises. Just do it! Or don’t promise to if you know you don’t really mean it.

‘Truly I tell you, the tax collectors and the prostitutes are entering the kingdom of God ahead of you.’ God’s judgment is definitely different from man’s! What he wants from us is so simple, but we are so preoccupied and distracted by personal image and reputation, outward appearance, etc., that we sometimes completely miss the simplicity and end up complicating the Christian life for ourselves and others. Make me an obedient child, Lord. Help me to drown out all unnecessary noise.
