Lev 16
Aaron’s sons died when they approached God carelessly, and God then tells Aaron not to come into the Most Holy Place whenever he pleases, or else he’ll die. This is in stark contrast with God’s invitation to us today to ‘come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need’ (Heb 4:16). I now understand why he says we should come boldly. It’s a new covenant and the old rituals and fears of relating with God no longer apply.
Matt 27
Three things I noticed:
- I don’t think I realized that Judas gave back the money he’d been given to betray Jesus. Too little, too late.
- The importance of dreams: Pilate’s wife had a dream about Jesus that troubled her deeply. She knew that action had to be taken as a result of the dream.
- Vs 25: ‘His Blood is on us and in our children!’ Imagine what these parents pronounced on their children! This must be how some of these generational curses come about.
