1 Sam 27-30; Luke 13

1 Samuel 27-29, Luke 13:1-22

Such an interesting reading. Lots of nuggets as well as questions. But I’ll just focus on one thing:

‘The Lord has done what he predicted through me. The Lord has torn the kingdom out of your hands ...’

‘When Jesus saw her, he called her forward and said to her, ‘Woman, you are set free from your infirmity.’ Then he put his hands on her, and immediately she straightened up and praised God.’

What struck me about both passages is that, in each case, God spoke about things as if they had already happened, when they hadn’t. The kingdom was torn out of Saul’s hands the following day - not the day that the declaration was made, and certainly not much earlier when Samuel had initially pronounced it.

The woman wasn’t set free (from all appearances) when Jesus said she was. It wasn’t under he laid hands on her that she was clearly set free.

Lesson: Take the Word seriously. If God says something, it is already done. We might not ‘see’ it immediately, but it’s done, as far as God is concerned. He’s already done it and seen it.

May my words, my thoughts, and my faith align with you and what you’ve said, Lord. All that you have said concerning me is done! It’s just a matter of time.

1 Samuel 30

When we’re in our darkest, loneliest hour, we are to find strength in the Lord, like David did. We are to muster up all our strength and keep fighting, like he did. Many of his warriors were tired and stayed behind, but David, by encouraging himself, mustered up supernatural strength and kept fighting. As his reward for not giving up, he recovers every single thing that had been stolen from him. Not even a pin missing. Amen!
